Parenting a Child with Autism + ADHD — Sensory Strategies That Work?

Hi everyone,
I’m a parent to a wonderful neurodivergent child who has both autism and ADHD. We’re on a continuous learning journey and I’d love to connect with other families navigating similar paths.

One of our biggest challenges is emotional regulation, especially when my child is overstimulated or overwhelmed. We’ve had some success using sensory tools like swings and body socks to help with calming, but I’m always looking to learn what works for others.

If you’ve found sensory activities or daily routines that help your child stay regulated and focused, I’d love to hear about them!

Also, if you’ve ever found it tough to balance the needs of ADHD (high energy, impulsivity) with the sensory sensitivities of autism, how do you manage both?

Looking forward to sharing and learning together.

Warmly,
sara
